In order to refresh my memory and train my knowledge (not much) in Marketing, I try to share my experiences in marketing cases that I’ve already learned.
Many aspects of Marketing Management are interesting to be discussed. In my job as an advertiser, I usually have to set up marketing strategy for the clients, even how to deal with the clients itself is also marketing approach that I have to learned one by one.
Why I love this marketing world? Because I think, marketing activities is one of our basic attitudes. As a human being itself, we also have a burden how to marketing ourselves in front of other people. Why we have to make some CVs, why we have to show our performance, why we have to be better than our competitor (in your class, in the sports, in the politics, in the contests), those are in order to reach one goal, selling ourselves quality among your communities.
We can’t just be quiet in order to get job, we have to make big effort to get big money, how? We have to do something so people see you have the capability to do something big. You set strategy to make yourself ok in front of the people, it means you already marketing yourself.
In the book Marketing Management Millennium Edition by Philip Kotler, said the definition of marketing is a societal process by which individuals and groups obtain what they need and want through creating, offering, and freely exchanging products and services of value with others.
So, sometime people said that marketing boast is sucks, marketer is sucks, salesman is also sucks, but they didn’t know every single day a person must do the marketing activities for him/herself. See the definition above, marketing is not just selling, selling and selling (although I definitely can say that actually we often to sell ourselves for such amount that we deal with our boss for example).
Let me explain it one by one. For example let say you are interesting in IT. When you are 16, you already know that your dream is working in sophisticated technology area. You know where you want to go. That’s what you need. Second, you must do something to fulfill the dream. You have to create your own strategy, your own lifestyle, your own achievements to show it to people. You learned hard, you made some simple computer programmes when you in college, you tried to do some freelances job in order to get credit for your good CVs. Sometimes you became tired, but of course you still did it because you must reach what you need. After graduation, you make more strategy. Beside a good CV, you also spread your CV to some big companies. Making the CV, show your good software, showing the logical in the test, is the process of offering yourself, until you feel comfortable to exchange your capabilities, your analysis in amount that you want (which means salary or good positions that you dream of).
So… marketing approach is not only products, not only services, but inside yourself, you already done it day by day in many aspects in order to get money (the realistic goals) for examples.
