Ok… let me explain in simple words, because I know… you will be bored if I told you like a lecturer in front of your class. So I just give the simple points for you, before I go further… So, you are not confused for some cases in other days.
I know, not every person interesting in these cheerful activities. I said cheerful because marketer usually work inside and among the joy of creativities, ideas, and bored if they just counting behind the desk.
Is marketing identically with selling ?? Marketing means boasting product even customer don’t need it ??
Well many conflict in these concept. Actually in the history of marketing, there are five competing concepts which conduct marketing activities, those are :
1. Production concept holds that customers will prefer products that are available, cheap.
2. Product concept holds that customers will favor those products with the most quality, performance, or innovative features.
3. Selling concept holds that customers and business, will not buy the products without aggressive selling and promotion effort from the organization.
From the first to third concepts concentrate to the producer goals, the business man controlling all the aspects of the marketing activities
Nowadays we never use above definition (especially for integrated companies), so these are the new concept of marketing which is the CUSTOMER is holding the control of the marketing activities.
4. Marketing concept, company being more effective than competitors in creating, delivering, and communicating customer value to its chosen target markets.
5. Societal marketing concept, same like the fourth, but we added the humanity, social issues, ecological needs in the marketing activities.
Core concepts of marketing in nowadays are :
• Target market & segmentation
• Marketers & prospects
• Needs, wants, and demands
• Product or Offering
• Value and satisfaction
• Exchange and transactions
• Relationship and networks
• Marketing Channels
• Supply Chain
• Competition
• Marketing Environment
• Marketing Mix (Product, Price, Promotion, Place / Customer solution, Customer Cost,
Convenience, Communication)
Ok enough for now… the next topics is not about theory at all (hm… ok maybe I will mention it just a lil bit) but I will share the popular issues in it with some interesting cases in all the cores that I’ve mentioned it above.
